Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) FAQ's

What is RESO?

The Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) provides the foundation for streamlined real estate technology through the creation and certification of standards. Our member organizations include MLSs, brokerages, REALTOR® associations and technology partners serving more than one million real estate professionals.

How will moving to RESO data standard help my organization?

RESO provides a data standard for real estate organizations to share and syndicate their data more efficiently, and effectively. The RESO API provides a seamless endpoint for real estate data to be validated and pushed to any number of aggregators and syndications.

What is an API?

An Application Programming Interface (API) is a piece of software that is a secure middleman between your data, and Luxury Portfolio’s data stores. The API will guide your developers/data vendor on the proper way to import your data to Luxury Portfolio.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of using the API vs. XML file?

The RESO API will allow you to harness the full power of RESO’s data dictionary and provide the fastest most secure way for you to get your data to LuxuryPortfolio.com. While the XML file is based on the RESO data dictionary, it only contains a subset of our most used data points and might be easier to implement for smaller development/data teams.

What are the accepted Property Statuses that RESO accepts?

The StandardStatus Lookups entry lists all expected values.

Why are fields like Open House missing from the XML spec?

LPI does not display open house information, so we have removed fields that add complexity and make data feeds less reliable.
